It all started with indirect light...
We love light. When we build our house, we were spending a lot of time planning the right light setup. For our staircase we wanted some source of indirect light. Due to different reasons the solutions with led light inbuilt in the stairs were not an option. But what about the handrail?
The standard handrail foreseen for the house was the chromium steal pipe with no option of adding a light source. Hence it was clear, this would have to be custom build. From this point onwards, one thing led to the other. If custom build, it seemed naturally to go with wood. If wood, then why not getting it done in India with a special design and so forth.
What was especially fascinating for us was the process of designing the actual handrail from the first rudimentary sketch with a basic idea to the final product being far away from that first draft. This journey is something we want to go with you as a customer for projects of appropriate size.
Why not add some furniture...
Once we had settled for the idea of getting the handrail done in India with a special design, it was obvious to at least partially fill the container it would take to ship the handrail to Switzerland with additional furniture. Fully excited we went on shopping tour through Rajasthan. The furniture places turned out slightly different than what we were used to in Switzerland. However, thanks to our good connections we could get right to the source. A fascinating experience with tons of truly amazing items. Some of them we were tempted to buy but simple had not good use for them. This all can change now when we buy stuff for our customers.
Ultimately we ended up buying much more than we originally had planned.
A lifetime experience...
After a lot of hassle despite our good contacts and with a delay of about 2 months due to a wholesaler who promised much more than what he could keep to - someone we will not do any business with going forward anymore - the container with our furniture finally arrived in front of our almost finished house in Switzerland.
It was a pain getting it there but that was nothing compared to what still had to come. The unloading, the endless unboxing, the dust of the packing materials and ultimately the realisation that some of the stuff would only get in the upper levels of the house through the windows, i.e. a furniture lift was required.
One thing was sure - we would never do this again...

This was until we realised how much guests (and we ourselves) liked our furniture. Friends indeed asked us if we could not get something for them as well. We started to toy around with the idea of doing business. It took another half a year, a friend who started a company before us and the assessor from the building insurance inspecting our handrail. Now we are finally here...
